Maryland-based David 'Wagga' Hunt Scholarship Foundation has awarded scholarships to 19 Jamaican students of Kingston College (KC) and Calabar High.
Each student was presented with a J$100,000 (US$800) scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year at the organization’s 11th Annual Scholarship Awards ceremony held in September at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica in Kingston. Each scholarship covers the cost of school fees, books, lunch, and related expenses for six years. The scholarship is awarded to deserving students based on financial need, academic performance, participation in sport or extracurricular activity, deportment and discipline. These criteria must be maintained throughout the life of the scholarship.  To date, 30 students have been awarded scholarships totaling  J$12 million (US$96,000).

The organization hosts several events each year to fund its scholarship initiative such as the annual Red Carpet Gala in Washington, D.C., and the annual Football Classic in Jamaica. The USA committee is led by Christopher Hunt, brother of the late David Hunt, and the Jamaica committee is led by both Christopher Hunt and Arnold “Dullo” McDonald.

The organization was founded in memory of David “Wagga” Hunt who was one of Jamaica's foremost track and field analysts and the co-founder of Meadhaven Football Club.  Hunt coached the national under-17 team and also guided Calabar and KC in the Manning Cup. He led Calabar to the Manning Cup and Oliver Shield titles in 2005 before his untimely passing in October 2007 from a heart attack. His legacy lives on through the foundation.
