Williams will be sworn in Jan. 1 and will serve as an appointee for about a year. The City Charter requires an election for the First District to be held in November and the winner of that election will fill the final year of Johnson's term through 2019. Williams immigrated from Jamaica as a child and has been a resident of the First District for more than 15 years. She is a member of the Hudson River Community Association, the NAACP, the Westchester Black Women's Political Caucus and the Westchester Young Democrats, among other affiliations. She holds a bachelor of science degree from the State University of New York, Albany, and masters of business administration and leadership from Walden University.
