Election Day 2020 is finally here. With many seats up for grabs, here is a list of 16 candidates of Jamaican descent on ballots across the country. U.S. VICE PRESIDENT The daughter of immigrants from Jamaica and India, U.S. Senator Kamala Harris is the Democratic vice presidential nominee for the 2020 election and the first woman of color on a major party ticket. CALIFORNIA Jamaican-born Errol Webber is an Award-winning filmmaker and the Republican nominee for Congress in California’s 37th Congressional District. FLORIDA Jamaican-born Marlon D. Bolton is a nonpartisan candidate running for re-election as City of Tamarac Commissioner, District 1. In 2016, he made history as the city's first Black Commissioner and in 2019, its first Black Vice-Mayor. Jamaican-born Richard Campbell is a nonpartisan candidate running for re-election as City of Lauderhill Commissioner, Seat 2. Jamaican-born Melissa P. Dunn is a nonpartisan candidate running for the City of Lauderhill Commissioner, Seat 2. Jamaican-born Jeff Holness is a nonpartisan candidate running for the Broward School Board Countywide At-Large, Seat 9. Jamaican-born chef, Michelle Jones, is a nonpartisan candidate running for election as City of Tamarac Commissioner, District 1. Jamaican-born Karlene Maxwell-Williams is a nonpartisan candidate running for Lauderdale Lakes Commissioner Seat 4. Jamaican-born Carla Spalding is a Republican candidate running for the U.S. House of Representatives, District 23. GEORGIA Jamaican-born Donna McLeod is a Democratic candidate running for re-election to the Georgia House of Representatives, District 105. She is the first Jamaican-American to become a Representative in Georgia. MARYLAND The son of immigrants from Jamaica and Switzerland, Anthony G. Brown is a Democratic candidate running for re-election to the U.S. House, 4th Congressional District. NEW YORK The daughter of immigrants from Jamaica, Yvette D. Clarke is a Democratic candidate running for re-election to the U.S. House, 9th Congressional District. Jamaican-born Jackie Gordon is a Democratic candidate running for election to the U.S. House, 2nd Congressional District. Jamaica-born judge Sam D. Walker is a Democratic candidate seeking re-election to the New York Supreme Court, 9th Judicial District. PENNSYLVANIA The son of immigrants from Jamaica and Trinidad, Anton Andrew is a Democratic candidate running for election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, District 160.
